The policy of individual mediclaim gives coverage for medicinal expenses that may arise during hospitalization of the insured person. During any serious illness, injury due to accident or in time of any major surgery one can get coverage for all the expenses under this policy. Diseases that may lead to surgery within the valid period of the mediclaim policy will also be covered.
This policy is basically a cover for hospitalization and re pays one for all the expenses for treatment of the diseases covered under the policy.
If a person is suffering from a disease before taking the policy then he will not get any kind of coverage for it and also no coverage is obtained for the first thirty days. But in the case of any accident then the expenses are payable. Some other eliminations of this policy are that no compensation is given if the case is related to child birth or if it is the case of treating asthma, cataract, piles, and bronchitis.
The name of this policy is Individual Mediclaim Policy, the amount of coverage is Rs. 100,000 and the average rate of premium is Rs. 5196. The policy term extends for a period of one year and one can even get cashless facility.
To be eligible for this policy a person has to qualify a medical test after completion of 45 years. The maximum age limit is 55 years and the person getting insured must be an Indian. Treatment undergone outside India will not be covered.
